About me!
Since the early 2000’s, I’ve been designing and creating patterns in both traditional and digital ways. I grew up with a knowledge of garment construction, learnt from my mother who would make a proportion of our clothing during our childhood years; this instilled a curiosity into the processes of construction and a respect for clothing from a young age. A degree in Fashion enabled me to explore my creative self and provided me with skills needed to be successful within my job roles; but I soon found I was eager to develop myself further and so stepped back into education; enrolling on a PGdip in Creative Pattern Cutting where I was able to fully understand proportion, fit, drape, construction and manipulating the pattern. Soon after completing I was offered a role of Designer and Pattern Cutter; the perfect fit you might say!
Some time past and then came the pandemic!
The pandemic changed everything for the better. I was made redundant which at the time was distressing but it allowed me a freedom I’d never fully been able to access before. With this new freedom I started to research into what was happening in the fashion arena, and once I’d started I just couldn’t stop, I’d be watching webinars at every opportunity, reading articles and checking out new innovators all thankful for this move to digital and online. The changes I was witnessing provoked and excitement me to know that this was something I needed to be involved in and I’m now on a journey of discovery, deep diving into new territories within 3D environments, to discover the possibilities that lay within. I may find I’ll be challenged and out of my depth with all the required learning but I’m willing to give it a go, experiment and hopefully create things I could never have imagined.
I’m glad I’ve found my way to this point and I hope you’ll enjoy being able to witness my progress.
