Trimester Three – Week Five

Substance 3D Designer

I’ve been using Substance 3D Designer to create some ideas for prints (through following tutorials) I really like the effect that is created for a wood grain and so I have followed tutorials and played around with the setting, I have further been able to add gradient colours and saved the images to be used and experimented with in CLO3D, where I have further explored the scale, rotation, placement, maps and overlaying of multiple images and graphic effects. Initially I am pleased with this result and I feel it fits well with my print and colour boards.

Image below is of a website – Typeone – I really like how the graphics morph and distort, it’s also animated which is something I’d really like to achieve within my digital garments.

Modular Configurator

I’ve been watching a few tutorials on how to use the modular configurator setting in CLO3D as this is an area I’d like to use to develop the variations on the styles I intend to show for my concept website.

Concept Boards

I’ve finished putting together the concept boards for my collection and concept website so now feel happy to start design development.

Design Development

To get me started with development I am using images from my mood board to help create silhouettes, design and print ideas, I really like this process as it allows a freedom to see what can be created; it is a process I have previously used during my BA(hons) and I thought it would be good to re-visit this way of working.

Avatar Sizing – Blocks

To make sure I’m working from a good starting point for patterns that I create I’ve initially researched sizing from Alvanon, Winifred Aldrich and the Pearsons Pattern Cutting Book. I have established an appropriate sizing structure and edited an avatar to meet the sizing information and I have started to create a T/Shirt block with set in sleeve and also a raglan block.

MaisonDao – Edge City Game player

As part of the MaisonDao team I have been exploring a metaverse space that has been purposefully created to showcase art, fashion and music. The graphics, space and layout are really cool and it was good to hang out virtually with other members, it’ll be interesting to see how this develops over the coming months.

Design Development – CLO3D

I’ve been experimenting with some pattern cutting ideas and overlapping of pieces to see how they react in CLO3D. Although I am not happy with the look it has given me something to consider.
